Is a passport required for entry?
A valid passport is mandatory for all travelers, with no exceptions. Citizens of European, American, and Australian countries will only need a passport for a free 7-day visa that will be granted upon entry. If you are visiting from another country, please contact us and we will investigate if any additional documents are needed for entry.
Is it necessary to exchange dollars to pesos?
While dollars are widely accepted in Tijuana at varying exchange rates, it may be beneficial to carry pesos for small shops or vendors that only accept cash. You can exchange dollars to pesos at a currency exchange with no commission or at exchange booths located near the border. Additionally, major credit cards are accepted in most places but it is always good to have some cash on hand.
Can I bring Mexican goods back to the United States?
You are allowed to bring back non-perishable items such as textiles, souvenirs, and limited amounts of alcohol (1 liter per person) as well as Mexican candy and pastries. However, fruits, vegetables, meats, and plants are prohibited. Additionally, over-the-counter medication can be brought back, but you will need a prescription for controlled medication.
What is the typical wait time for crossing back?
The wait time for crossing back can vary greatly, and can take anywhere from 10 minutes to over 1 hour. Your guide will provide an estimate of the wait time when they drop you off at the border.
Is Tijuana a safe place to visit?
Tijuana is considered safe for tourists, however, it is understandable to have concerns about safety when traveling to a new country. Our tour will prioritize your safety and well-being, just as you would when conducting daily activities in San Diego.
